Collection: Kavals
The kaval is a chromatic, end-blown flute that is traditionally played in the Balkans and Anatolia. It is associated with mountain shepherds and is one of Europe's oldest folk instruments, with prototypes dating back to 3,000 B.C. Shepherds are thought to have invented the kaval using natural pipes to help gather sheep.
